Elizabeth Schmidt, Juvenile Justice Staff Attorney
Elizabeth Schmidt joined the Supreme Court of Texas Permanent Judicial Commission for Children, Youth and Families in December 2025. She began her legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in Nueces County, Texas, and then later joined the Caldwell County Criminal District Attorney’s Office in 2016. While working at Caldwell County, Ms. Schmidt discovered her passion for juvenile justice and served as the juvenile prosecutor there for seven years. Ms. Schmidt also spent two years at the Hays County Criminal District Attorney’s Office, where she was part of the Family Justice Unit and prosecuted child abuse cases. She earned a BA in Political Science from Texas Lutheran University in 2008 and a JD from St. Mary’s University School of Law in 2011.
